Skagit Design is owned by James and Angel Eidson.
A number of years ago, James moved to Skagit County to open a construction office of a rival home building company. He has many years of construction experience. His grandfather, Tracy (Truck) Eidson, was a general contractor in Baker City, Oregon for most of his life. Many of his homes are still enjoyed by residents of the Baker Valley. James' father Jim, was also a general contractor in Eastern Oregon. Many of the homes his father and grandfather built are still being enjoyed by residents of Oregon. While helping his father build, James recalls his father training him to use a hammer with both hands. "I never seemed to know which hand to use, so dad would let me work for a while and then he would tell me to switch, so I would. I guess he figured I had two hands, so I might as well use them both." says James. That early training by craftsman still shows in his work today.
James first obtained a contractors license over 20 years ago. Since then, he has always succesfully supported himself in the construction industry. "I really don't know what other kind of work I would rather do. It is so satisfying to build something that you know is going to last, and be enjoyed for many years to come."
Skagit Design is primarily a residential construction company. Recently our focus has been on expanding a new home construction business in the Skagit Valley and surrounding areas. We have also helped True Built Home establish themselves in the new home construction industry. True Built Home is a Tacoma based construction company that focuses on allowing a person to have a new home built on his lot for a competitive price but without the problems associated with the homeowner contracting himself.
